![]() Transit Arts Community HolidayOn December 15th, Cougars for the Community teamed up with Central Community House and Transit Arts to volunteer at their Community Christmas Event. Santa made a special guest appearance and there was lots of food, pictures and music for the youth and their families. | ![]() 2nd Annual Member Holiday DinnerDecember 7th marked the 2nd Annual Cougars for the Community members holiday dinner and awards. ![]() YMCA Thanksgiving DinnerOn November 17th, Cougars for the Community members volunteered at the YMCA Thanksgiving Dinner in partnership with member Renee Johnson-Jackson, the founder of Vision Stomp Raising a Nation in a City. | ![]() YWCA Family Center Birthday BashOn November 16th, Cougars for the Community hosted another of the Monthly YWCA Family Center Birthday Bash Event. At this event, we provide a birthday party to children who wouldn't have one other wise. These children and their families live at the YWCA Family Center and have fell on hard times. This event gives a day of fun and celebrates the birthdays of the children that have them this month. Volunteers are always invited to attend each month. | ![]() CLCO Conference 2014On November 14th, many Cougars for the Community members registered and participated in the CLCO (Collegiate Leadership Conference of Ohio) Conference. |
![]() Red Cross - Holiday Mail for HeroesOn Nov. 11th, Cougars for the Community hosted it's second annual Veteran's Day Holiday Mail for Heroes event. This is an event partnered by the Red Cross. The event was a huge success. Our organization made new friends, recruited new members and created over 170 hand-made holiday cards for our American troops overseas to enjoy this holiday season. | ![]() Run For Your Life 5k Walk or RunOn November 8th, Cougars for the Community members were invited to this event by a Supervisor at Columbus State. This was the 3rd Annual ESL Afterschool Communities (ESLAsC) fun 5k & 1 mile run/walk to demonstrate healthy living (exercise & eating) to community and families | ![]() Genesis Community Center HalloweenCougars for the Community and Connect-2-Complete volunteers teamed up to serve at Genesis Community Center. This event provided a fun and safe environment for kids to have a great Halloween party! |
![]() Genesis Community Center MoveThe Faith-Based Community Center reached out to Cougars for the Community and Connect-2-Complete for help with packing and moving to their new location during the weekend. Food and friendship was provided. | ![]() Gladden Halloween for KidsOn October 30th, Cougars for the Community went to volunteer to assist one of their community partners, Gladden Community House. Gladden hosted a safe trick-or-treat event for the kids that live in Franklinton neighborhoods. Cougars for the Community members donated a larger amount of candy to the event. | ![]() Columbus Marathon 2014On October 19th, a hand full of Cougars for the Community members volunteered and ran in the Columbus Marathon. All proceeds benefit Nationwide Children's Hospital. |
![]() Haunted Maze FundraiserOn October 17th, Cougars for the Community members came together to work the haunted maze. We not only had a ton of fun but the maze belonged to one of our members family and they donated part of the proceeds from the evening to a local cause! | ![]() Light The Night 2014October 11th: Light The Night is a nationwide fundraising walk to celebrate and commemorate lives touched by blood cancer. Cougars for the Community participated in the one-mile evening walk and carried illuminated lanterns, red for supporters. The experience is comparable to a family picnic with music, entertainment, and a few thousand other people. | ![]() Torch RelayOn October 4th, Cougars for the Community members were invited to participate in the Torch Relay benefiting Child Miracle Network and Nationwide Children's Hospital. |
![]() Broad Street Food PantryOn October 4th, Volunteers worked at the Broad Street food pantry down the street from campus to help give food to residents in the community who are in need of food. | ![]() Connect-2-Complete FundraiserOn October 1st, Members of Cougars for the Community hosted a fundraiser for the Connect-2-Complete programs at Columbus State. ![]() Good Neighbors PicnicOn September 27th, members were invited to participate in Columbus' Good Neighbors Picnic. This event creates a positive activity for homeless families and individuals and educates the community and dispel myths regarding the homeless In addition to an entertaining day, homeless families are provided with much needed clothing, personal care items, as well as, shoes, books, toys, blankets, and travel bags in preparation for winter. | ![]() Day of Service Fall 2014On September 24th, all of Columbus State (Staff, Faculty, Administration and over 300 Students), for the very first time, went out and completed a full day of service at 50 different organizations throughout the City of Columbus. The over 300 students who participated in the Day of Service were in a very large part recruited by Cougars for the Community members recruitment efforts. | ![]() CSCC Library Banned Books WeekSeptember 21st - September 26th was Banned Books Week at the Columbus State Library. The Columbus State Library was one of seven organizations awarded a national grant sponsored by the Freedom to Read Foundation and the Judith F. Krug Memorial fund to help celebrate Banned Books Week. During the week, the Columbus State Community College campus including Cougars for the Community were given multiple opportunities to contribute by participating in various interactive events hosted by the Library. |
![]() Voter Registration Free Car WashSeptember 20th, Cougars for the Community joined up with the members of Phi Theta Kappa and the Political Science Club. All members hand washed cars for free when someone registered to vote! The event was completely nonpartisan, the members simply wanted all Columbus State students to vote! | ![]() NAICCO Produce GiveawaySeptember 18th, some Cougars for the Community members worked at produce giveaway at NAICCO (Native American Indian Center of Central Ohio). | ![]() Slice of ColumbusOn September 17th, Cougars For The Community supported Slice of Columbus. This event is organized by the Development Board of Nationwide Children's Hospital, with all proceeds benefitting the hospital. Since the competition started 20 years ago, Slice of Columbus has raised $600,000 for Nationwide Children's. |
![]() Day of Service PromotionOn September 16th, Cougars For The Community, dedicated some of the time to stand out in the courtyard at Columbus State to educate students about the upcoming Day of Service. | ![]() Week of Welcome Fall 2014August was the Columbus State's Week of Welcome College Organization Table Event. Many of the College's organizations were represented there including Cougars For The Community. The event was fun and tons of people were interested in our Organization, upcoming events and membership. Special thank you goes out to the volunteers/members who came out to work and support our organization table. |
