Our History

It is important to create a safe place for students to get together with others that have the same passion for service while learning how to give back to their community. Learning how to not only serve but to also build a strong network of partnerships and friendships. The original idea for Cougars for the Community came from an Economics Professor at Columbus State named Selloane Asiamah. She, along with a student employee, Thomas Capps and a handful of student founders, Kamara Willoughby, Mitch Rausch, Kevin Hong, Ikea Haralson,  Lexi Coulson, Jo Hachet and Maria Fernandez. They worked together to develop ideas for the club and began promoting service opportunities to the student body in Fall 2013.
