![]() 3rd YWCA Family Center Kids BdayBashOn May 18th, we had our 3rd Monthly YWCA Family Center Birthday Bash Event. At this event, we provide a birthday party to children who wouldn't have one other wise. These children and their families live at the YWCA Family Center and have fell on hard times. This event gives a day of fun and celebrates the birthdays of the children that have them this month. Volunteers are always invited to attend each month. | ![]() Broad Street Food Pantry EventOn May 3rd, Cougars For The Community had it's very 1st self-led Foodbank Event. This Mid-Ohio Foodbank event was scheduled specifically for our group and it's members to work at the Broad Street Food Pantry. We accomplished a lot and helped many hungry families to have food on their tables. We look forward to working with Mid-Ohio Foodbank again and again. | ![]() 2nd Member DinnerApril 27th, Spaghetti Warehouse hosted Cougars For The Community's 2nd Members Dinner at their wonderful restaurant. It was a great time full of story sharing, laughter and heartfelt emotion. |

![]() Member Cookout SocialApril 19, 2014, Cougars For The Community had it's second Cougars For The Community Social. The social was a BBQ held at the Nelson Park near Bexley. We grilled out various items and members brought lots of side items. There were various games and activities to assist with engaging in getting to know our members better. | ![]() 2nd YWCA Family Center Kids BdayBashCougars For The Community was at it again. They hosted another successful Birthday Bash for the kids at the YWCA Family Center. Cake, ballons, face painting, outside sports, painting nails and much more fun! Thank you to all the volunteers who donated snacks, games and their time. | ![]() Relay For LifeMany Cougars For The Community members, Columbus State students, OSU students and Columbus residents joined the Might Ribbons Relay For Life Team. Our team participated in the walk for research toward the cure for cancer. It was an amazing 16 hours full of fun, dancing, tears and bonding. |
![]() 2014 ColumbusState Leadership AwardsApril 10th 2014, Columbus State held the Leadership Awards for the organizations and people who were honored for being leaders on campus and in the community. Cougars For The Community was honored to receive the "New Club of the Year" Award, the "Community Service Excellence" Award and both President Thomas Capps and Member Jude Carstensen were honored with the Legacy Awards. | ![]() Bake Sale Fundraiser for Our ClubOn April 7th, Cougars For The Community held a bake sale. It was meant to be in combination with the PEPSI Giveaway in the Courtyard at CSCC's Main Campus, however the rain had other plans. The rain didn't stop members from raising some money however. Thanks to all those who donated baked goods and came to work the table. | ![]() Reading Buddies EventOn March 29th, Cougars For The Community teamed up with the Parsons Branch Library for a Reading Buddies Event. This Event was coordinated and led by Cougars For The Community Vice President Kamara Willoughby. Reading Buddies provides after school reading practice to students. Cougars For The Community Members played some educational games and just hung out and had fun. |
![]() Photo Shoot/Potluck SocialOn March 22nd, members came and received a free professional head-shot photo. Also, a potluck took place and it was a great success. Members brought tons of wonderful and delicious food. Members, new and alum, mingled and got to know one another better. There was music, dancing, photos, friends and fun. Special thanks to members Allison Cole and Amaal Shehabi for taking the photos. | ![]() My Very Own BlanketThis Columbus State event focused on the education, empowerment, health and well-being. In addition to the fair, members impacted their community by participating in creating a blanket for a youth in foster care; the blankets benefited My Very Own Blanket. | ![]() Free Food Market GiveawayMarch 15th, Cougars For The Community joined forces with J. Jireh Ministries and Mid-Ohio Foodbank and gave away free produce and other foods to needy families. Many families were helped and our members had fun and made a lot of community connections. |
![]() Member Bowling SocialOur First Member Social was a huge success. student members and staff members came together for an evening of fun and networking. New friendships were created and previous ones were grew stronger. We look forward to many more opportunities to grow our organizations relationships. | ![]() Northside Food Pantry EventOn March 1st, for four consecutive hours, Cougars For The Community members offered their helping hands to put together food packages for needy families that arrived at the Northside Food Pantry located at 4664 Cleveland Ave Columbus Ohio. Special thanks to Cougars For The Community member, David Holley, for organizing this event. | ![]() Club Fundraiser Bake SaleOn February 27th, Cougars For The Community held a bake sale to raise money for the club socials and projects. The Bake Sale was in the lobby of the TL Building. Lots of supporters and members donated baked goods, money and their time! |
![]() 1st YWCA Family Center Kids BdayBashThis was the 1st YWCA Family Center Birthday Bash that Cougars For The Community participated in. Everyone came together to throw a birthday party for all the children and their families that are homeless and living at the YWCA Family Center. There was Musical Chairs, Balloons, Cake, Cupcakes, snacks, Face Painting and much much more. Cougars For The Community looks forward to this wonderful event once a month. | ![]() Brother's Keeper PanelThis year marked the 6th Annual Brother's Keeper Panel at Columbus State College. Many students, staff, faculty, Cougars For The Community officers and members and people from the community came to watch this Leadership Panel. It was in honor of Black History Month and the panel spoke on where they have been and where they have come and the road that led them there. Panelists included Alvin Asiamah, Matthew Donahue, Malik Willoughby, Jackie Calderone and Wade Meyer. | ![]() Non-Profit Table EventOn February 11th, Cougars For The Community took part in a Non-Profit Table Event called the Community Service Fair at Columbus State College. Many Non-Profits from around Columbus, Ohio came and networked with students, employees and community members. Cougars For The Community made many connections and hopes to work with many of these wonderful groups in the near future. |
![]() Boys and Girls Club Sat. of ServiceFebruary 8th, Cougars For The Community members set out to participate in the Columbus State Saturday of Service (SOS) Event through the SEaL Department. The event this month was held at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Columbus. Students, employees and members all came together to paint ceiling tiles and make the arts department at the Boys and Girls Club cleaner and more fun. | ![]() 2014 Columbus State MLK CelebrationOn January 16th, Columbus State College hosted its 24th Annual MLK Celebration. We were privileged enough to have Ms. Donna Brazile as our Keynote Speaker, and she did not disappoint. Also, afterward, Cougars For The Community President Thomas Capps was honored to interview Ms. Brazile in a Fireside Chat Private Interview. The entire event was a huge success. Special Thanks goes out to all the volunteers who attended and worked the event. Our members were the backbone of this event. | ![]() Spring 2014 Week of WelcomeJanuary 15th was the Columbus State's Week of Welcome College Organization Table Event. Many of the College's organizations were represented there including Cougars For The Community. The event was fun and tons of people were interested in our Organization, upcoming events and membership. Special thank you goes out to the volunteers/members who came out to work and support our organization table. |
